Created in 1998 by the Paris Ile-de-France CCI, the Test d’Evaluation de Français (TEF) is an international benchmark test that measures your level of knowledge and skills in French.

Results are valid for two years.

The TEF consists of 5 modular tests:

Oral comprehension (CO)
Written comprehension (CE)
Oral Expression (EO)
Written Expression (EE)
Vocabulary and syntax (LS)

About the test:

IMMIGRATION

Contact IRCC or the appropriate institution to know what test you need. The CCFO cannot give you any official information and will not be held responsible.

Test

The 3 components (listening, reading and writing) are computer-based. The oral test is in person. Everything is assessed by CCI-Paris, the CCFO is not responsible for the results.

Certificate

You will receive your certificate within 4 weeks in digital format. The results are valid for 2 years. You can take the test again , as many times as you wish, with a 30-day break between 2 tests.

TEF CANADA

Oral comprehension: 40 min – 40 questions
Written comprehension: 60 min – 40 questions
Oral expression: 15 min – 2 topics to cover
Written expression: 60 min – 2 topics to cover

When both payment and form are received, we will send you a confirmation email and a letter of invitation.

ARRIVE ON TIME

On the test day, arrive early as stated in your convocation letter to ensure the test runs smoothly.

In-person training

You feel more confortable learning in person?
We are offering a 2-hour private course to prepare you for the TEF exam with a trained instructor for $80.

Divided in 30 minutes for each modular tests (Expression orale, Expression écrite, Compréhension orale, Compréhension écrite), the teacher will explain how the test will take place, what is expected, with examples, practice and feedback from the teacher.
