Why register for the DELF?

DELF exams are official qualifications awarded by the Ministry of Education in France to certify French language skills for candidates outside of France; they are recognized worldwide, your certificate, or that of your child will be valid for life! 

It is currently used throughout the BC school system and across Canada. The exams are independent and candidates can register for the exam of their choice. Each exam assesses 4 communication skills: written and oral comprehension, and written and oral production.

Created in 1998 by the Paris Ile-de-France CCI, the Test d’Evaluation de Français (TEF) is an international benchmark test that measures your level of knowledge and skills in French.  

The TEF consists of 5 modular tests:

  • Oral comprehension (CO) 
  • Written comprehension (CE) 
  • Oral Expression (EO) 
  • Written Expression (EE)
  • Vocabulary and syntax (LS)
